Feldschlößchen Brewery Fest

This weekend was a busy weekend in Dresden and the surrounding towns.  Germans love festivals in the summer!  (Actually they love festivals all the time.  In fact, I think they make up holidays just to have festivals.)  We now have an "HerbstMarkt" set up about a block from our house.  Its very similar to the Stadtfest a few weekends ago, but smaller, and with less food and more things.  They have little house huts where you can buy everything from German wooden carved artwork, to fresh baked bread, to underwear.  I don't usually buy my underwear from street vendors- but that's personal preference.

We did not go to HerbstMarkt this weekend since it runs all month.  We did however, venture a little ways away to the Feldschlößchen Brewery for their BreweryFest.  Germany makes some fantastic beer in hundreds of breweries across the country.  We're lucky to have a few breweries close by.

Here is the grand entrance to the brewery.  Those are some pretty big tanks!

They lined up "kastens" or cases of beer all along the entrance way.  There were stands to buy bratwurst and softeis and beer.  They even had carnival games!  We shot beer coasters and tried to get them the farthest, threw beer caps into buckets and walked on stilts.  We even got prizes (gummie burgers... mmm).  By far, the coolest thing they had at the brewery was....

The BIER KASTEN MAZE!  There's our friend Chris.  You can tell how cool the maze is because of how excited he is.  He's REALLY excited.  It was like a corn maze.  But with beer cases instead of corn.  There was also a really cool spider that lived in there.
